Gene Taq is a heat-resistant DNA polymerase which is obtained by cloning the DNA polymerase gene of Thermus aquaticus YT1, modifying the gene, expressing it in Escherichia coli, and separating and purifying.
Gene Taq is suitable for PCR. Also, having a terminal transferase activity, the PCR product obtained can be used for TA cloning.
Since the N-terminal of Taq DNA polymerase is partially deleted, the 5'-3' exonuclease activity is lost.
Also, the amplification efficiency for DNA fragments of not more than 1 kbp is especially high.
